How AgencyScore Ratings Work

The methodology behind our scores: what we measure, where the data comes from, and why sponsored placement never changes a score.

10 October 2026 5 min read

Every agency on AgencyScore carries an independent score out of 10. Here is exactly how it is calculated — and what it can and cannot tell you.

The four pillars

  • Quality (30%) — craft, strategic thinking and the seniority of delivery.
  • Results (30%) — evidenced commercial outcomes and case-study strength.
  • Communication (20%) — responsiveness, transparency and reporting quality.
  • Value (20%) — what you get for the money, relative to market rates.

Where the data comes from

Scores combine verified client reviews, portfolio evidence, and editorial assessment of each listing. Review authenticity is checked — incentives can be offered for honest reviews, never for positive ones.

What sponsored placement does — and does not do

Featured and Premium agencies get more visibility: higher placement, badges and richer profiles. They do not get higher scores. Scores are computed the same way for every agency, and our methodology page documents this publicly.

Use the score as a filter, not a verdict

A 9.2 agency is statistically safer than a 6.4 — but fit matters more than decimals. Read the reviews, check the niche specialism, and shortlist two or three before deciding.
